College Hill Classic

Perched above downtown and the waterfront, this circa-1850 Providence residence occupies a deep, narrow terraced site. Early landscape improvements focused on reconfiguring the south-facing patio and walkways to create space for a productive kitchen garden. The walkway was relocated and refined with granite cobblestone edging, maximizing planting areas for herbs and vegetables including tomatoes, pole beans, beets, Swiss chard, arugula, thyme, and basil.
At the upper terrace, renovations introduced a hot tub, a pergola-shaded bluestone patio, and a fire pit seating area. An old flowering crabapple tree lends a sense of timelessness alongside newly planted redbud, stewartia, and magnolia trees. Garden beds are layered in a lush cottage style with colorful shrubs and perennials, while evergreen plantings provide year-round structure and interest.
